Ypsilanti Police say teen attacked on way home from school

A 13-year-old Ypsilanti boy told police he was attacked Monday afternoon on his way home from school by two older youths.

Ypsilanti Police said the teen's mother called them at 5:13 p.m. to tell them her son had taken the late bus home from school. She said was attacked by two youths who hit him in the back of the head, knocked him down, and tried to rifle his pockets, on the 900 blocks of Jefferson Street.

The youth told police he fought with the pair, whom he believed were about 16 years old, until a car drove by, and the older youths fled.

The boy was not seriously injured, police said.
